Words of Preparation     "We Remind Ourselves to HOPE"      Family Readers
Family Readers:

On this first Sunday of Advent, we anticipate tonight's Hanging of the Greens service when we will prepare our sanctuary for this holy season and light the first candle in our Advent Wreath.

We REMIND ourselves that, however we find ourselves this Advent season, God is very near, very aware of us, very present to our lives.

As the light comes forward, and we take time to savor the excitement and anticipation, we remember some very Good News:

This is the candle of HOPE!

Procession of the Light--Anticipation
We will not light the wreath this morning, but will share the light, the scripture and the HOPE that it will burn brightly tonight at Hanging of the Greens
Hymn of Praise:Joy to the World!  red book 125  stanzas 1,3,4
Call to Worship:
Leader: Long ago, God made a promise.
People: We remember how the people of God waited for the promise to be fulfilled.
Leader: They sang songs and told stories of the coming Savior, the Messiah, God's promise in the flesh.
People: Long before the waiting was over, they had HOPE.
Leader: As we anticipate the coming light, let us worship God in our waiting.
People: We worship our God, who kindles the light!
